Experience
Certified tutor by Varsity Tutors for the New York State area. I have also worked in many tutorial centers and services in the New York State area including SPI, Kumon, Sylvan and more. I have eight years of experience tutoring kindergarteners to Second Year college students on any a variety of subjects. I also have three years of experience teaching SHSAT material to middle school students and have watched them get into their desired specialized high schools. I love teaching children because I get to see their growth in understanding of a subject they were struggling in. I believe children can soak up a great amount information very quickly if presented to them properly because their minds are still developing. Not only have I taught children all over the New York City area, I have taught many children from different countries in Asia. The teaching experiences I had in Indonesia and India greatly improved my skills as there was a language barrier. However, I was able to connect with my students and saw improvements in their understanding in subjects such as Math, English and Healthcare through tests and quizzes. I enjoy helping students enjoy and excel in a subject they previously disliked and avoided. It gives me great joy being able to be a part of a child's success and I am proud to say that every student of mine have always improved. Hobbies
I enjoy using my spare time to volunteer around my community and around the world. I recently went to Indonesia and India to teach children from poverty about healthcare and sciences. I currently volunteer at Mount Sinai Hospital and work with World Trade Center first responders in their recovery after the disaster as well as Bellevue Hospital Center/ NYU Langone as a research assistant in a Pediatric Medical Labeling and Asthma study. I also work in a research lab that works with understanding HIV and its effects on patients with fungal infections such as Meningitis. I also enjoy directing/ producing plays for charity events in which I work with children to sharpen their individual talents in music, dance and acting.
